Race Report – 3rd February 2025

Team Blizard Race Report

It is that time of the week when we try to do our weekly roundup of results from the past week.

Although not too many races to mention this week we did have a huge amount of runners pinning a number onto their race vests and smashing it!

We start the week with a couple of off road races to report from.

Firstly, we mention Romany Tune who took the long bus trip from Newcastle to Cardiff to run in the BUCS cross country championships and gave a good account  of herself to back up her form in the recent half marathon she ran.

A little nearer to home in the Handsworth cross country league training partner to many of you Tom Shaw once again showed the whole field a fresh pair on heels as he took another victory before running home to cool down!

We also need to add Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts win in the Dorney Lake Super sprint duathlon into this week’s report and he retained his title he won last time but in a quicker time this time round so well done Robbo!

The big race to report from over the weekend was the super fast Dewsbury 10k road race.

Held on about the only flat road in the area, this race for many years has always been one to keep in the calendar on the out and back route.

There really were too many of the team running to mention everyone so a massive well done to everyone who raced and took home the “cock tee” afterwards.

A few of the more standout performances however, came from Shane GraceMichael Whole GrainShaun Paul YatesRichard BurkeChris GriffithsKev SimpsonMatty BellNatalie NevilleElle WarrenPeter TwiggAaron LoweryBrad Walker and Maksims Palciks to mention just a few of the pb and age group winning athletes that ran.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to training partner to many of you over the years in Matt Harvey who has overcome a serious injury from last year to get back into tip top form and smash his personal best down to 33:22 at Dewsbury 10k and fully deserves his title this week.

Well done to everyone who raced and until next week…..keep training!
