Race Report – 2nd February 2026

The weather might have been a bit rubbish recently but the performances that the Team Blizard community are nothing short of “red hot”!

Team Blizard Race Report

Once again we have another week to celebrate the achievements of the community as they have raced over a variety of distances and surfaces over the last 7 days.

Saturday kicked off the action down at Loughboro with the BUCS cross country championships.

This year it was held in the grounds of Charnwood college that provided an excellent venue albeit very muddy in places.

In the Ladies Long race we had London marathon bound Romany Tune put in a fine performance in her last ever championships while recent lactate test Jess Dover ran well representing her university of York.

Staying offf road Saturday also provided over in Hull the Ultra Backyard event where coached athlete John Podgornyi was part of the winning team and also posted the fastest lap of the day.

Sunday’s local cross country league at Clowne saw Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw take the overall win and well done to all those who ran in it as there are too many to mention!

A little further away in Warwick saw another coached athlete in Mark Trolley from North Derbyshire club pb in the half marathon…well done that man.

The final race to report from is the ever popular Dewsbury 10k road race.

This event has been a favourite in many people’s diary for many years due to the fast nature of the out and back course and this year once again the event delivered.

There really were too many from the community running to mention everyone because the list of runners would be as long as a giraffe neck!

We will however attempt to mention one or two of the eye catchers from the race:

The simple one to start with is the “North Derbyshire massive” where Shaun,Abi,Bev,Ann,Wayne,Matt to name a few all smashed it and ran pbs!

More coached athletes in Jamie,Aaron,Nick,Maks,Rich,Joe and Paul again were on the pb list to add their names to the roll of honour.

A special mention goes out to Trish Jackman and her coach Bill who support the clinic via testing as Trish ran a superb race to take the overall ladies win.

However, each week we like to name a “Run of the Week” where an individual posts a performance that we think is special for a variety of reasons.

This week that title goes to Richard Burke of Ackworth Road Runners who smashed his 10k pb and went under that magical 40mins barrier for the first time.

A massive well done to everyone who raced and thank you to everyone who sent in their results as it really helps us pull everything together.

Until next week………keep training!
