We hope everyone has had a great Bank Holiday and although it is a day later than usual we still have an action packed race report for you all from the last 7 days!

Shorter races are often more popular in the spring/summer months and we have a host of these to report from to begin with.

Kicking off we had the Quacky 5k race where so many of the Ackworth running club took part in as part of their club championship race series and a man in form is Richard Burke who produced another excellent performance in this race around Newmillerdam.

The ever popular Rother Valley relays were held on Wednesday evening over the 5k distance and there was a record number of teams running with so many of you competing it is impossible to mention you all so we will just say a massive well done to everyone who raced.

Staying with the 5k theme, Friday saw 2 races to mention with the first being the No Walk In The Park Summer series held by the North Derbyshire club that support the clinic so well with several of the members and recent lactate tested athletes used the race as a sharpener.

Across on the other side of the country we also saw the super fast Mid Cheshire 5k take place where there was a fine run from Portugal regular Mike Skelton and a massive new personal best from coached athlete Will Sykes.

Moving up distances now we saw very windy conditions over the weekend for many athletes racing but it did not stop the quality still coming through!

Over in East Yorkshire in the picturesque setting near New Ellerby saw the 10k/ and half marathon race.

There was a fine run from Chris Jackson while taking 1st place in the V45 was Chrissie Dover.

Moving up distance quite a bit to 60k and jumping surfaces to trail we saw an excellent performance from another North Derbyshire athlete in Mark Trolley who took part in the Finland Ultra race.

The final race to report from is from the weekend’s Edinburgh Festival which saw thousands of runners taking part in the 5k/10k on the Saturday and then the half and full marathon on the Sunday.

A massive well done to all those who raced over all the distances with a special mention to Tracey and Freddie Fearn who take this week’s joint “Run of the Week” award for their performances in the half marathon with Fred running a new personal best while Tracey took 2nd place in the V55 age group.
