Race Report 20th March 2023

Team Blizard Race Report in bound!

With so many of the team preparing for spring marathons then the focus often is more driven to the training than racing too frequently but we still have had some outstanding results from the community this weekend.

The first race to report from was the National Masters cross country championships which were held at Wallsend where Leeds Ac athlete Jon Stewart switched track spikes for cross country ones and came an excellent 5th in the V40 age  group.

Coached athlete Seth Kirby from Steel City Striders made easy work of the Knighton 20 mile road race as he ran himself a new personal best and showed those extra miles he put in Portugal are paying off as we head into our taper for his marathon soon.

A little more local to home saw the annual running of the Wakefield 10k. Several of the team were using the race as a little bit of a sharpener whilst heavy in marathon training mode and there were great runs from Nathan Doy, Simon Kendall and Matty Bell to mention a few who ran.

The last event to get a mention took place over in Italy in the form of the European Duathlon Age Group championships.

A fiercely competitive event saw an excellent performance from long time training partner “Robbo” Roberts but “Run of the week” goes to another couple of long time training partner in Lindsy James and Jayne Baldwin who has transitioned from just running into duathlons superbly to take an V40 and V55 Silver medal with a fantastic performance.

Well done everyone who raced and keep these results rolling in as your success inspired us all within the community!

Until next week…..keep training!
