Race Report 18th July 2023

Team Blizard Race Report round up!

Once again, we have a packed week of action to report over a variety of distances and surfaces!

This week we had several mid week races to report from and we start with the Grenochase in Sheffield where ultra consistent Seth Kirby came second overall in terrible weather conditions as his upward form continued!

A regular race in the South Yorkshire circuit it the Spencers Dash and another coached athlete continues to improve as Barnsley’s Lydia  Race backed up her recent good form in last week’s DonFaster 5k with a 2nd place lady overall.

Moving into the weekend saw firstly, the Norwich 10k where athlete Scotty Burrell gave a fine account of himself in what was a challenging course to run under 35mins, well done that man.

A little near home but just as challenging saw several athletes run the Ilkley half marathon and there was a fine run and new personal best from former “work experience” athlete Cameron Reilly while deep into marathon training for Berlin and Amsterdam, Simon Kendall and Rachael McCluskey used the event as good hard training and the hills certainly provided that!

Moving up in distance to the Ultra X over in Huddersfield saw Chris Keeler use the event as a “warm up” for his Dusk until Dawn event this weekend while prolific racer Callum Ely actually made it onto the podium in his first ultra event!

The final race to report from was the Friday night’s York 5k which was held on the cycle track in terrible weather conditions. We saw a welcome return to form and racing from Leeds athlete Aaron Lowery however, the “Run of the Week” goes to Eleanor Warren who showed a great turn of speed to take the overall ladies victory in a new personal best time to show she is well on track with her speed preparation ahead of entering into marathon mode soon.

Once again thank you everyone who sends in your results as it really helps us to pull them all together and let’s keep this excellent vein of form going.

Until next week……keep training!
