Race Report 11th March 2024

Team Blizard Race Report

Well done to everyone on what was another fantastic week of racing with several distances and surfaces to cover!

Friday night kicked off the weekend of racing with the ever popular York Even Splits 5k where regular athlete to the clinic Rob Milner put in a fine performance to go under 20mins for the very first time other than in a Park Run, well done that man.

Saturday saw the muddy Inter-Counties cross country championships take place just outside  Nottingham and regular training partner and Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw showed that his marathon preparations are going well with a fine run for his county.

The big race to cover on Sunday was the Retford half marathon which was held in pretty grim conditions but the quality of the runs from the team shone through!

Some of the team were using the race as part of a long run as they are in deep marathon mode and it was good to see so many of the group helping each other out on what was pretty poor weather conditions and supporting a local race.

There really were far too many of the team to name everyone individually and we apologize in advance if we miss your result but it would be like “War and Peace” if we named everyone!

Here is a selection of a few of the eye catching runs in no particular order:

Scott Lindley a massive 10 minute pb since his initial test 12 weeks ago

Lee Milburn first of the team home in an impressive 70mins using the race as a training run

Wayne Singleton massive new pb

Lee Varley smashing his personal best

Coached athlete Chris Keeler new personal best

Coached athlete Mark Rodgers in a return to racing after serious injury and his first race in 2 years

Recent Portugal bound athlete Gav Edley

Training group members Disco Dave and Andy Teasdale great runs

However, a joint “Run of the week” goes this time round to coached athlete Adrian Hopkinson and regular training partner Callum Parke.

Both athletes ran huge new personal bests but we are confident that both athletes can go faster in the future.

Next stop is Podium and North Lincs half marathon next weekend and the results keep flying in.

Keep up the great work everyone and until next week….keep training!
