Blue sky and a gentle breeze

Today we woke to another blue sky and gentle breeze, while at home it appears storm Eunice is doing her worst.

Breakfast was early today so we could be ready for the strides session planned for mid morning.
After our dynamic warm up, led by Jenny we were all ready to hit the road and head a couple of miles out of town to a stretch of wide footpath perfect for performing strides on. The session was x10, 30’s efforts off 30’s recovery , with a 3 minute jog, then repeated. A tough one, but it’s all about turning the legs over fast, but not sprinting. Interesting before the session we chatted about the effectiveness of this type of training. Several of us who had felt heavy legged, reported that they felt better after doing it. Cool down was a 3 mile easy back.

The session was quickly followed by the pool ice bath, which was a perfect recovery tool! Not quite sure what the Hotel staff and golfers think about this strange ritual.

Lunch today for the majority was a small cafe/restaurant along the promenade which served excellent salads, pizza and pasta. A real little gem.

The first part of the practical session was led by Jenny and we learnt how to use the spiky ball on trigger points in the glutes. Dave then took us through an isometric glute circuit using a resistance loop. Another informative and productive training session.

Then it was off for the optional second run of the day, 30/40 minutes. With many having a long run on their training plans for tomorrow, the option of a rest was many’s first choice.

Now the sun is setting on another brilliant day, and all that is left is to have fun and laughter over dinner.
