Team Blizard Race Report
Once again as we suffer another week of terrible weather it is a good job that the results from the Team Blizard community have contributed to a bit of sunshine!
Kicking the week off he head over to Northern Ireland to the Armagh International road races which are held just outside Belfast and always attract a super fast field to race round the town square.
This year was no acceptation and we saw a great run from coached athlete Alice Fearn who ran in the ladies 3k race.

Moving up very slightly in distance several of you raced the ever popular York 5k series on the cycle track on the Friday evening and a couple of the eye catching results to mention came from Rotherham Harriers athlete Rob Watkinson and coached athlete Sarah Hunter who both ran very well in poor conditions.

Changing surfaces to cross country and there was another fine display from Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw as he took the overall win in the latest round of the local cross country league and sets him up well for the National cross country championships this coming Saturday.

There were several athletes running abroad this week with races in both Barcelona ( half marathon ) and the full distance in Seville where we were treated to a photo finish in the Men’s international race!
More locally many of you use the Stamford 30k as a training run/race in the build up to spring marathons but as the point of press no results are available.
Nearer to home we saw the Wombwell 5 mile road race that incorporated the go kart track as well as a big hill!
Well done to all that raced it and a special mention to both Toby Bellis and Lydia Race who had impressive runs to name just two.

Team Blizard representation spread far and wide and long time training partner to many of you Jacob Clark made the long trip down to London to run in the Battersea Park 10k and gave an excellent account of himself before rushing back to do a long run with the Team on Sunday morning!

However, each week we like to pick what we feel is the standout performance and dub it “Run of the Week” and this time around it goes to a London based coached athlete in Alex Makula who raced the London based Valentine’s 10k event.
After serious illness Alex has batted back to full fitness and it is great to see him run his 2nd faster 10k ever this Sunday.

Until next week………keep training!
