The main event today is the Cross Country session

Day 3 starts with a beautiful blue sky! Today is a day to have a cheeky lie in, an early breakfast and stroll before the main event of the day.

Dynamic warm up begins at 9:45am led by Jenny, followed by a relaxed run to the Cross Country course, just over 3 miles away. The session is 5 x 8 mins in threshold. This is a tough one, it’s undulating and off road. It’s all about controlled exertion, keeping each effort at a similar pace. The group nailed it!

All we had to do then was run the 35 minutes back to the Hotel. But this was a great opportunity to slow down and hold a debriefing chat with different members of the Team. On arrival at the Hotel many headed straight to the pool for that “ice bath” effect on the legs, other went for the same effect but in the sea!

Refuelling was definitely needed after the mornings training! Some headed for the promenade, some for the marina whilst others decided the Hotel and Spa were a good option.

Next up at 4:30, a Talk from Coach Dave where we looked at what constitutes a good and bad run, what effects us and Red, Amber, Green days. All interesting stuff that we will keep reflecting back to throughout the weekly talks.

There’s no time to rest, as we move straight into a practical session. This time Jenny leads us through some foot conditioning exercises, and Dave warms us up with more running drills. Then it’s the second run of the day, a nice easy 30 minutes. This is an optional run and many of the group decide that the big session done that morning is enough for the day.

The day closes with dinner and lots of friendly banter!
