Race Report 7th November 2022

This week’s race report has a bit of everything in it in terms of distances and surfaces which the guys from Team Blizard have raced over!

Kicking off the weekend saw many of you competing for your respective clubs over in Berry Hill Park,Mansfield which once again held host to the National Cross Country relay championships.

Our very own sponsored athletes Lee Milburn and Keri Pearson turned out for their club Rotherham Harriers and both had fine runs to show that post marathon they are fully recovered and looking towards new targets for the months ahead.

There were also great runs from Mark Hinchcliffe, Chris Ward and Andy Teasdale who made light work of the tough course and it was good to see both Jody Murray and Jane Hare racing fresh from Friday night’s Blizard Run Club strength and conditioning class!

Staying with Saturday but jumping countries and surfaces saw a brand new personal best from coached athlete Elle Warren in the New York 5k held on the marathon course which was taking place the next day but more of that later!

Moving into Sunday, there were several 10k races taking place including the ever popular Deepdale Dash, Meridian 10k and Meltham trial race where many of you ran in and there were simply too many people to mention across these races but well done to you all!

Moving up slightly in distance to the half marathon it was fantastic to see another coached athlete in Paul Massey claim a brand new personal best to show his marathon preparation on course in the tough Stevenage half marathon.

The final two races to mention are over the marathon distance where very tough humid conditions greeted runners in the famous New York marathon.

Matt Hamer and Rachel McCluskey both ran well and registered solid performances while a special mention needed to be made of regular training partner James Osbourne who completed his 6th and final major marathon which is a fantastic achievement.

The final race in this week’s race report goes to the Newcastle Town Moor marathon which is held around several laps of the town center park. Portugal bound Andy Hopper who improved his Amsterdam marathon time from a few weeks ago.

“Run of the week” goes to York athlete Vivianne Fraser who took a fantastic 7 minutes off her best time only a few weeks after recovering from covid!
