Race Report – 6th November 2024

Team Blizard Race Report

We have another action packed race report covering a variety of distances, surfaces from around the world for you this week!

Kicking off this week’s report we head over to the monthly No Walk In The Park 5k over in Chesterfield put on by North Derbyshire running club.

This friendly long standing fixture is worth a trip over to do for those of you who fancy something a little different and we saw good runs from long standing training partner Peter Twigg  from Clowne Road Running and a great line in the sand from a recent tester on the treadmill in Mark Trolley.

Keeping with the same distance but a little further away in New York we saw Lynzie Fleming run really well in the popular race the day before the marathon but more about that later!

We next jump off road and the first race to cover was the National cross country relays that were being held at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield and with too many of you guys representing your respective clubs it is impossible to mention you all so well done to everyone who raced!

Same surface just a little further north saw Freddie Fearn produce a great run over the cross country in the Scottish short course championships.

Many of you ran in the local Canal Race which is held over approx 5 miles starting and finish close to Meadowhall, Sheffield and it provided a welcome return to racing for Wayne Singleton while there were fine runs from Philip Morgan who took the 1st V50 win and coached athlete Sarah Sanderson who’s silver patch of form continues.

Moving up a little in distance to 10k saw the Deep Dale Dash 10k take place in Barton upon Humber and there was an excellent run from coached athlete  John Podgornyi of East Hull Harriers to record a massive new personal best and paced by Cleethorpes’s Callum Ely.

10 mile road races are not as popular as they use to be but there was one this weekend at Pretswich Hall and Pink Bird Dawn Keeligan only went and did it again smashing her personal best time so soon after her great Yorkshire marathon.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” took place in the New York marathon where regular Portugal attendee Andrew Fleming smashed his best time on the course to cross the line in an impressive 2.44hrs and we cannot think of a more deserving award for him on an excellent run on a tough course.
