Race Report 5th June 2023

Team Blizard Race Report

This week we have another offering of races where once again the athletes of the Team Blizard community have knocked out some amazing performances over a variety of surfaces and distances.

During the week we have seen a variety of smaller club races and with just too many people to mention let’s have a big well done shout out to all those who races in any of the following races:

Scholes Coppice, Hallam Chase or the Apperley Bridge Canter.

The weekend saw  the popular and super fast Grimsby 10k take place and there was some eye catching performances in no particular order from:

Danny James, Mike Skelton, Spencer Higgins and Callum Ely all from Cleethorpes as there is a great little training group forming over there who have been for testing and are running well.

Good to also see running well was Andy Teasdale, Andrew Kitchen,Matt Taylor, Malc Stapleton and Matty Bell to name a few who had eye-catching runs.

Another lady in the form of York athlete Vivviane Fraser needs a shout out for completing the Gargrave trail marathon for fun!

Sunday also saw the running of the Yorkshire Vet road relay championships over in Holmfirth and once again there simply are too many of you guys who ran to mention every individual but a massive well done to all those who raced.

The final race to report from is the Derby half marathon where there was a brand new personal best for Emma Smith who is just running pb after pb since her initial lactate threshold test and long may that continue!

However, “Run of the Week” this week goes to a coached athlete in Paul Massey who took an incredible 13 mins off his time from best time in the V65 age group.

A well deserved award for this week and a massive well done to everyone who raced and long may it continue.

Until next week……..keep training!
