Race Report – 30th June 2025

Team Blizard Race Report

Once again it is that time of the week when we attempt to do a round up of a selection of the results over the last week of racing and what a busy week it has been!

It is that time of the year when several mid week races take place and this week was exactly that where we had several of you all competing in races like Ulley Reservoir, Canal Relay where there was a victorious Worksop Harriers in the team event led by Captain Tom Shaw, Elmton Chase held by  Clowne Road Runners to name just a few taking place. Well done to everyone who raced in any of these.

The Tidesdale 5k provided happy hunting ground for the inform Kevin Walker who’s good form continued as he took the overall win in this race.

Staying with the 5k event we also saw a fine effort on a very hot night from coached athlete Scott Burrell in the Battersea Park 5k.

A special mention needed to go over the same distance in an international race that took place in Benalmadena, Spain where back from injury saw an excellent 3rd place and podium position from another coached athlete in Shaun Yates.

Moving up in distance to 5 miles and we saw an excellent run from Sarah Sanderson as she took the V50 age group win and on the same day North Derbyshire athlete Abi Holloway pb in the half marathon version of the race which was some run in those hot conditions!

The Harrogate 10k had a good showing from Team Blizard as long time supporter of the clinic Jacob Clark came an excellent 5th place chased home by Jamie Baker fresh from his initial test some 8 weeks ago.

The final race to report from is the popular and ever growing Barnsley 10k.

Barnsley has a rich history in quality road races over the years and it is great to see this fixture return to the running calendar and be so well supported.

We had so many athletes running to mention everyone but there was a few eye catching performances and quality runs from Shaun Yates, Richard Ward and Matt Harvey to mention.

As always we like to try and pick a single performance we feel warrants “Run of the Week” and this week this title goes to Wayne Singleton who took the V40 win and 5th place overall.

Wayne is going from strength to strength with his running currently as is a great example what “older” athletes can do and well done to him!
