Race Report 28th May 2024

Team Blizard Race Report

It may be a day later than usual but there has been plenty of action to report from in the last week and Bank Holiday weekend!

Kicking on this week’s report a mention to all those who raced in the final South Yorkshire road league fixture. These local races are excellent value for money even if they are generally held on fell type courses on the road and well done to all those who did them this year.

The rich vein of form continued for Seth Kirby as he  raced the Telford based Phoenix Flyer 5k mid week and recorded another fine performance.

Another athlete that came to Portugal was in action as the Jonny Mellor coached Lynzie Fleming smashed her 10k personal best in the televised Manchester 10k and well done to both athlete and coach.

The very tough Buxton half marathon was where new to the training group Matt Wroe showed he had fully recovered from Wednesday’s action to record a new pb!

Long standing fixture of the Goole River Bank race took place on Sunday and another athlete returning to full fitness was Worksop’s Tom Shaw who managed an excellent 3rd place overall.

Finally this weekend saw a close to the main marathon season with the Edinburgh half and full marathon taking place in tough wet conditions.

Well done to all those who ran the marathon in what has been our very best set of results over this marathon period since the clinic opened many years ago.

The half marathon provided happy hunting group for Cleethorpes’s Callum Ely who took a whooping 1 second personal best but this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to coached athlete Tracey Fearne who at the back end of last year had the heartbreak of having to pull out of the Frankfurt marathon with an injury and has stuck at her rehabilitation and slowly built up her training to record an excellent time of just under 90mins and show she is fully back to full fitness and in great shape going into marathon mode for later in the year.

As always thank you for sending in all your results as it really helps to keep up with what everyone has done and long may it continue.

Until next week……keep training!
