Race Report – 22nd April 2024

Team Blizard Race Report

Well, if you thought last week was a busy race report think again and the action just keeps coming thick and fast!

We kick off mid week with the next round of the South Yorkshire road league which was held again on a tarmaced fell at Lodge Moor!

With so many of you running it is impossible to name everyone but all we can say is eat your protein after to repair those legs going down hill!

Saturday was London marathon weekend but there was also a very high  class Podium 5k taking place on the Saturday in Dulwich Park where Cleethorpes athlete Danny James continued his fine vein of form running one of his fastest times in the capital.

Sunday morning saw loyal supporter of Team Blizard Vivianne Fraser take on the very first running of the York event TEWW 10K where once again she put in a fine performance and it must have been those kettlebells she did during the week on the Blizard Run Club strength and conditioning platform that made all the difference!!!

On to Sunday and the world famous London marathon which runs from Greenwich into the center of our capital finishes on The Mall.

There was so many of you all running and a massive well done to all those who ran and some individual race report will follow during the week to celebrate what a great running community we have.

A few of the eye catching runs we saw came from:

Jody Murray who pb’d after many many years

Ruth Muir pb

Lee Varley “superman” took amazing 11 minutes off previous best

Adrian EnnisPat pb

Wayne Singleton pb

Karina Chadbourne pb

Aaron Lowery pb

Jimmy Hanrahan pb

Andrew Hopper

Shaun Paul Yates pb and first time under 3.00hrs

Keri Pearson

Adrian Hopkinson pb under 3.00hrs first time

Mark E Rodgers

Mark Lawton

David TuneCoach Tune himself!

Elle Warren

Tom Shaw for over coming and injury to finish.

This list could go on forever and we apologize as we know we have missed loads off but there was just too many of the crew running to mention everyone.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to coached athlete and valued member of the training group in Lee Milburn.

Lee will not mind us saying his previous few attempts at the marathon may not quite have gone how his training suggests he could run but that is marathon running.

That said thrown into the mix of working full time and raising a young family, Lee recently added to that family with the birth of a brand new baby daughter called Libby but still managed to find time to train and support his family and nobody deserves a great run more than his as he stopped the clock in an impressive 2.24hrs to take 54th position overall in a field of 50k.

Now that is some achievement to shout about.

Massive well done to everyone and until next week…..keep training!
