Sunday 11th February - The day it rained a little!

Feb 11, 2024

The alarm went off early, and looking out of the window it was evident that the weather forecasters were spot on with the predictions. Grey, cloudy and wet!

Todays planned session was a marathon based lactate assessing run on the track. After a warm up 3 groups set off on their first 8 minutes “comfortably hard” rep. Blood lactate was then measured. The rest of the session was decreasing time, 7,6,5,4 minutes all off 1 minute recovery. After the last rep of 3 minutes the blood lactate was again tested. If the session was executed correctly, similar figures should have been recorded. What was evident was how the influence of wind and rain can have on a planned session. It was fun, I think, and you can even see the smiles!

After a warm shower and lunch we made our way to the conference room where we had two great talks from Dave and Jenny.

Outside the rain had now stopped and we were able to return to the track for the first practical session of the week, focusing on foot conditioning and resistance band work.

After this those that are looking to hold a high mileage set off on the second run of the day, others went for a walk to the beach, whilst others used the downtime to recharge.

Now the man behind the morning’s umbrella was also responsible for the entertaining evening quiz.

The winning team being “Team Name” who despite being a person down stomped home with the trophy.

A night cap, natter or early night. Bring on tomorrow!
