Team Blizard Race Report

Massive well done to everyone who raced in the last week and there has been action up and down the country and beyond over a variety of surfaces so sit back and enjoy the read!

Kicking off the week we saw the Loxley Lash 5k series which is proving popular and we saw a great effort from Sheffield coached athlete Seth Kirby who was just using the race as hard training and finished very high up the field is a very respectable time!

Same  distance, different cycle track over at Doncaster saw the latest round of the Danum Harrier’s Donfaster 5k.
Very windy weather greated the runners which also doubled at the Yorkshire Vet’s championship and with so many of you racing it is impossible to mention everyone so a big well done to all of you who battled the strong winds to record so very impressive times.

A little further a field saw another coached athlete in Freddie Fearn fly the Blizard flag while on holiday in Canada as he took part in a 10k road race and showed the Blizard vest travels well!

Moving into the weekend and we have a variety of races to report from the first being the off road trail event called the Rassleback Trail race where long time supporter of the clinic Brenda King used the race as part of her build up to a half marathon later in the year.

Dropping down distances onto the track saw Worksop athlete Tom Shaw run an excellent 3k on the track and set a new personal best.

The great day out of the Winterton show was the setting for their 10 mile event and taking the overall win in the race was Cleethorpes athlete Danny James and a fine 1st V60 win when to training partner to many of you Tracey Gibson in this great local race.

Same distance but different venue over in Leeds saw some great runs from the team in the very hilly Eccup 10 mile road race.
Coached athletes Shane Grane, Mark Chapman and Keri Pearson all took their respective age group win and a fine 3rd place overall from Keri in her first race since the London marathon.

A special mention needs to go to Susie Hinchcliffe in her first race back from illness and pinning a number on after 8 months away from racing takes some doing and she just misses out on the “Run of the Week”for her effort!

That award goes to North Derbyshire and another coached athlete In Ann Barker who competed in the Newcastle 10k which was also an England representation event.
Not only did Ann run the fastest time of the year but she also took 3rd place in the V60 age group and deserves this week’s title!

Thank you to all those who sent in their results and let’s keep this effort going everyone, until next week……keep training!
