Team Blizard Race Report

Another week of amazing results from you all over a variety of distances/events/parts of the country!

Kicking the week off on Friday night up in Edinburgh we saw the “Fit Family Fearn’s” on tour once more as Tracey, Alice and Freddie Fearn all competed in the QA 5km road race with all performing well.

Long time supporter of the Blizard Run Club and Friday night attendee Julie Taylor placed 3rd overall in her age group in the Rutland Water  swim which was a fantastic performance.

The lovely setting of Worksop college hosted Curly’s athletes Big School Run Ultra which was both a solo and relay event and a special mention needed to go to Jo Bates in the solo event.
It seemed it was a weekend of long distance event as down in Milton Keynes saw prolific Vivianne Fraser run the Chariots of Fire marathon and collect her bling!

Near home and a lot shorter event saw the monthly No Walk In the Park 5k take place at Chesterfield and the in form couple of Dawn Bradley and Shaun Johnson both had excellent runs with Dawn taking the women's victory.

Many of the team travelled and supported Bill Taylors Bassingham Bash 5 mile road race which is held as part of the village show on a Saturday afternoon.
The course is super flat and fast and several of the team raced it with a new personal best coming from Sam Gilliver and Wayne Singleton, while there were fine run from both Gill Coulson and Tracey Gibson  who both made light work of the hot weather after their Portugal training camp!
A special mention needs to go to coached athlete Andrew Kitchen who made a welcome return to racing after a very long time out with injury after the Dewsbury 10km back in February and has worked super hard to get back into shape so massive well done to him.

The York 10km race remains popular even though it is quite a challenging course with lots of twists and turns. Topping the pile in a new personal best time was Ackworth’s Shaun Paul Yates who took a massive chunk off his old personal best and loads more to come from him on a faster course. There were also great runs from Toby Bellis and marathon man Paul Massey who was using the race as speedwork as we build towards the Valencia marathon in December.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Sheffield athlete Seth Kirby for his “unusual” steeplechasing form which I think you will all agree has room for improvement and will be used time and time again to haunt him!

Massive thanks to all those who sent in your results as it really helps us and until next week….keep training!
