Team Blizard Race Report

We have another bumper race report for you today with some amazing results from up and down the country with one common theme of “excellence” running through them.

Let us begin down in Battersea Park, London where coached athlete and one of the most popular members of the training group when he is around, Scott Burrel who smashed his best ever time in the Sri Chinmony Mile Relays with an excellent and long overdue pb!

A  little nearer home saw the latest round on Wednesday evening of the KMRC events in the Rockingham Chase where another coached athlete in Sarah Sanderson used the race as a good workout as she prepared for an autumn marathon in the next few months.

The lovely surroundings of Worksop college saw The Big School Run ultra take place and there was a fine run from Sarah Davis where she completed multiple laps of the 5k loop over the day and a massive well done to all those who competed.

Another man showing fine form over the shorter distances while in marathon mode is North Derbyshire athlete Matt Taylor who ran a course record over 5k in the NWITP 5k at Chesterfield.

The York 10k provided a couple of very good runs from part of our team/community.
Fresh from Friday night’s Blizard Run Club strength and conditioning class saw Scarboro’s Andy Hopper win bragging right at home with a fine run to take “top dog” in his house while Abi Holloway smashed her previous 10k best time for an impressive new personal best as she aims towards the GNR in a few week’s time.

Changing surfaces to the track we saw a great run over 5k on the track at Barnsley from Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw as his fine form continues.

The final race to report from was the ever popular Bassingham Bash 5 mile road race where once again Bill Taylor and his team put on an excellent high quality event.
Team Blizard was well supported as several of you used the Saturday afternoon race to sharpen up.
The were new personal best times and fine runs from from Freddie Fearn,Lee Davies,Richard Ward,Mike Skelton, Jayne Baldwin,Andrew Kitchen, Dawn Bradley, Tracey Gibson, Warren Clarke and Kev Simpson to name just a few of the eye catching runs.

However, each week we name someone that we consider “Run of the Week” and this week it goes to coached athlete Shaun Yates.
Shaun has patiently worked his fitness back after suffering an injury that kept in on the sidelines the whole time in Portugal. He has worked super hard with Jenny on his strength and conditioning and Saturday saw him not only run a new personal best but also smash his club 5 mile record with an excellent run.

Massive well done to all who raced and long may this continue and until next week…..keep training!
