Team Blizard Race Report

With the Bank Holiday and then us being away in Scotland it has been a couple of week’s since our last report and a massive well done to all of you who have raced since our last report.
The action over the last week has been nothing short of “red hot” and some of the stand out performances in the last week are listed here.

The Lincoln 5k series kicked off the week and many of Bill Taylor group were in fine form who have been for testing with personal  bests from many of his team so a massive well done to them and Bill.

Training partner to many of you Jayne Baldwin used the race as some speedwork and came away with one of her best runs for many years.

Staying with the same distance but much closer to home in the Sandall Beat 5k, young Lucas Davies showed everyone a fresh pair of heels as he took the overall win. Not bad going for a boxer!

The long established Spencer’s Arms Dash held in Barnsley provided happy hunting ground for both Shaun Yates and Richard Burke who both took a huge chunk off their previous best time on that undulating course.

The next three races to report from are all over the 10k distance but in different venues.
Wednesday night saw coached athlete Keri Pearson make the long trip from Hull to London to run in the Battersea Park 10k where she gave a good account of herself as we prepare for the Berlin marathon in a few short weeks.

Another coached athlete in Leeds based Aaron Lowery travel “north” to the Middlesboro 10k and was rewarded for that with a great run that cements his excellent current form.

While Sam Gilliver backed up his excellent run in the Podium 5k last week with a fine 6th place in the Wilne 10k and just missed “Run of the week” with his performance.

Sam’s run in the Derby event was supported by fine runs from Peter Twigg,  Christian Hopkins and Dawn Bradley to mention a few of the more eye catching runs.

Gain in popularity the Leeds Country Way relay attached a large entry as clubs divided into pairs to do the relay and far too many of you ran and enjoyed it to mention everyone individually but well done to you all.

However, this week’s “Run of the week” is a joint title that goes to Cleethorpes’s athlete Danny James and Portugal attendee Lynzie Fleming who both raced in the Mid Cheshire 5k road race on Friday evening.
Both ran really great races and it is a well deserved title for the week.

Well done to everyone who raced and until next week……keep training!
