Team Blizard Race Report

It might be a day late due to travelling through Europe but the Team Blizard community has been flying the flag of success both abroad and domestically!

The first race to report from was the next round of the South Yorkshire cross country league which took place on Sunday at Clifton Park, Rotherham where there were simply too many of the team to mention each person individually so well run to all those who took part on a very undulating course!

Moving  into Europe now and the first race to report from was the sunny Malaga half marathon where coached athlete Paul Massey was using the race as a bit of warm weather acclimatization ahead of his forthcoming Valencia marathon in December.

Not so sunny and certainly experiencing weather similar to home we saw a posse of Worksop harriers in the form of Tom, Henry, Matt and Anna all take part in the Frankfurt marathon alongside Coach Tune and sponsored athlete Keri Pearson and a great weekend experience was had by all including sterling runs from all of the above with pick of the crop coming from regular Blizard marathon session attendee Matt who smashed his previous best performance with the help of some serious pacemaking from club mate Tom!

More local to home saw several races including the ever popular Worksop half marathon where another Valencia bound athlete in Elle Warren had a fine run to finish 2nd lady overall while deep in marathon mode while many of the training team also took part in the undulating course that takes in Clumber Park.

The final three races were over the 10k distance and several athletes were using the well established Haltemprice 10k over in Hull to test their racing shoes while a little nearer to home we saw some fine runs by Rome Doisneau to take 2nd place overall and regular training partner Joe Restell take the V50 title in the Wistow 10k that included a section where front crawl my have helped more than running!

The final race to report from was the Curly’s athletes Brigg 10k where there was an eye catching run from Portugal bound athlete Mike Skelton but this was “topped” with an overall victory and a well deserved “Run of the Week” coming from popular training partner to many of you in Lee Varley.

Once again another fantastic weekend of results and long may this continue….until next week….keep training!
