Team Blizard Race Report
Just when you thought it was an easier week of results now most of the marathons are finished!!!
How wrong could we be as the action continues thick and fast from all over the world!
Kicking off this week’s race report we had a couple of 10k road races to report from the first being the ever popular Brigg 10k organized by Jono and his team at Curly’s.

There was an excellent return to form from Portugal bound Mike Skelton who took his age group win while “Team Wolf Pack Davies” all had splendid runs and great to see all member running together.

A little further away in Hull was the Haltemprice 10k where we saw another fine run and win in her age group from coached athlete Tracey Gibson who is having a fantastic 2024 and has raced consistently all year round.

Many of you took part in the next round of the South Yorkshire cross country league and also in the British Masters cross country relays held in Derby and well done to you all.
This time of the year there are many half marathon races taking place and the next few races we cover that distance.
There was a fine ( 2nd fastest ever ) half marathon over in Valencia from London based Scotty B and within the race the Men’s WR was broken.

Slightly less glamorous settings of the Monsal trail was where our next half marathon took place and there was lifetime personal bests from 2 athletes that have recently been spinning the treadmill here at the clinic in Richard Ward who came 2nd place overall and ever loyal Giles Searlby who once again showed off his well deserved bling as he pb’d!

Our final race to mention was the Worksop half marathon that touches part of many of our long run routes in the lovely Clumber Park.
Worksops own Tom Shaw bounced back to form after a short illness just before the Chicago marathon which had been his A race all year and great resilience shown there Tom!
Coached athletes Tamara Hazlehurst smashed her GNR time to notch another personal best and that is 2 pbs in 2 races for this London marathon bound athlete while Derby’s Paul Massey used the event as his longer run as we look to do a marathon next month.
North Derbyshire duo of Shaun and Dawn used it as a training run after racing the day before.
Another coached athlete in Keri Pearson ran well to take 3rd place overall in the ladies race but it was Elle Warren who gets this weeks “Run of the Week” as not only did she pb on a tough course but also took the Ladies overall first place and was well deserved!

Another fantastic week of results and thank you to everyone who sent them in and as always sorry if we missed anyone….until next week….keep training!
