Team Blizard Race Report

Once again the action in the field matched the weather as we saw some “red hot” action over the last seven days with a variety of races all around the country!

Kicking the week off on the track over in Bury we saw two great runs from athletes who have displayed great form all summer on the track in Alice Fearn and Seth Kirby over 3000m with Seth taking another chunk off his personal best while Alice showed a seasons best the week after her English  Schools race.

Staying on the track but this time a lot further north in Edinburgh it was the venue for another “Fearn” in Freddie Fearn who raced over 5000m ahead of a family reunion this coming week where all the Fearns race on the road together!

Moving onto the road we saw a solid performance over at the Brownlee center from Aaron Lowery in the Even Splits 5k held on the cycle track in Leeds.

Salford athlete Tommi Baker make light work while on holiday of the Belvoir half marathon as he took the overall victory in very hot weather.

The Loxley Lash venue was the host of the Forge Relays over the fast and furious 1 lap with so many of you racing it was impossible to name everyone so well done to you all.

Derby was the venue for the England Masters track and field championships and there were great runs from both Simon Oak and Rob Barnes both over 800m in their respective age group.

The final race to mention on this weekend of not so many races is the Heckington Show 10 mile race. Almost every year this race has been run it has been red hot and this Saturday was no different and there were some sterling run from many from Cleethorpe’s AC who may have benefited from the session Dave and Jenny took over there on Tuesday night.

Great runs from Tracey Gibson,  Callum Ely and Simon Hammerton to name a few but this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to another Cleethorpe’s athlete and Portugal attendee who put all that warm weather training to the good in Danny James who came a fine 2nd place overall to Bill Taylor’s athlete Ed Buck and shows they are both well on the way to their marathon preparations.

Massive well done everyone who raced and until next week…..keep training!
