Team Blizard Race Report
Once again it has been an action packed week from the athletes of our community with some outstanding performances over a variety of distances and surfaces.
Kicking the week off saw coached athlete Tom Whitley race under the lights at Battersea Park in their 5km event and put a fantastic performance on the score board for his first race for many months.
In slightly warmer climates we saw regular training partner Joe Restell take part in the super fast Seville half marathon where he gave an excellent account of himself considering the amount of beer and tapas he consumed the night before!
Dropping down the distance a little to 10 miles saw the 70th running of the Ferriby 10 mile road race in Hull.
With so many of you racing it is impossible to mention everyone but we saw some eye catching runs from Danny James, Keri Pearson, Tracey Gibson and a massive new personal best from Wolds Vet Bing Yan after his recent lactate test a few weeks ago.

On a side note it was good to see a new women’s course record be broken to snatch it by 1 second from our very own Jenny Blizard as records are meant to be broken so well done!
The final couple of races to mention are the Northern and Midland Area cross country championships.
Many of you raced the Northern championship at Tatton Park near Knutsford and well done to all those who toed the line on what was a tough course.
The Midland championships were held at Mallory Park which has always been associated with racing and a massive well done to Portugal bound coach in Marti Whitehouse who collected another team medal to add to her collection over the years and we bet there are very few people in the country with as many winning team medals as her!

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” actually goes to the Newark senior men’s team who took the overall team Gold medal.
All this team is guided by Bill Taylor who is a great supporter of the clinic with his athletes and testing.
Bill has managed to get a great group of guys ( and girls ) training together and Saturday’s win is testament to his endeavors and deserved this week’s title.

Another busy weekend planned with the fast Dewsbury 10k next weekend so until then…..keep training!
