Team Blizard Race Report

It has been a busy weekend of racing from the athletes over a variety of surfaces/distances spread up and down the country!

The first race to report from was the Brighton half marathon where Scarboro’ athlete and fresh from a week in Portugal we are happy to report a fine run from Andy Hopper.
As he prepares for the London marathon then the half marathon was just a stepping stone to that and he managed to stay on his feet all race unlike in Portugal!

The  next race took place off road in Cheshire where the National cross country championships were held in the beautiful grounds of Bolesworth Castle near Chester.
Athletes from all over the country compete across all age groups against each other.
In the Senior Men’s race another Portugal returning athlete in Seth Kirby carried on his fine form with an excellent run while track specialist Jon Stewart made light work of the 7+ miles as he sharpened up for the Trafford 10k next weekend.

Staying on the cross country but moving into Sunday saw the next round of the local cross country match at Killamarsh.
There were simply too many athletes racing to shout out everyone but there was an eye-catching performance from regular training partner Tom Shaw who took the overall win in the Men’s race.
Well done everyone who raced there.

The final race to report from was the super fast Snake Lane 10 mile road race.
Great supporter of the clinic and “wonder woman” Vivianne Fraser set yet another pb while Manchester marathon bound Aaron Lowery produced a sterling effort.

A special mention needs to go to overall race winner Jordan Skelly and his coach Bill Taylor as Jordan nipped under the magical 50 minutes barrier for the first time and this is a massive achievement so well done you two!

However, “Run of the week” goes to one of our very own training partners in Jacob Clark.
Not only did he place very highly at 14th position overall but also took a huge chunk off his current personal best to stop the clock in 56 minutes.
Great running Jacob!

With a very busy weekend of racing ahead of everyone we look forward to once again reporting on everyone’s achievements!
Until next week…..keep training!
