Team Blizard Race Report
The weather this weekend may have been challenging but the results still keep rolling in!
The first few races to report from are over the half marathon distance with the first race to mention being the Benidorm half marathon where Sheffield athlete and Portugal attendee Natalie Neville had a great run to take the V50 age group win which sets her up perfectly before going into the new year aiming for the marathon.

A little further up the coast in Torremolinos we saw Derby coached athlete Paul Massey run well over an undulating course and of course in better weather than we had over here!

A little nearer home saw the annual Clowne half marathon take place and regular training partner to many of you Tom Shaw took the overall win in the race and his excellent performance was backed up with fine runs too from North Derbyshire’s Mark Trolley and Tamara Hazlehurst to mention a couple.
Finally we move onto the Curly’s Athletes Doncaster 10k that once again did not disappoint and it is great to see this local event growing year on year and a massive well done to Jonathan Frary and his team.
There really was far too many of the team running to mention everyone as the list would be as long as a giraffes neck but we have picked out a selection of eye catching ones:
Michael Skelton 2nd V50
Jayne Baldwin 2nd V55
Tracey Gibson 1st V60 while it was an excellent return to form from Matt Harvey after some time out with injury.
Coached athlete Elle Warren ran once again an excellent race in tough conditions and a mention also needs to go to another coached athlete in Shaun Johnson who by beating his 10k pb has provided a clean sweep in 2024 across the board from 5k right up to the marathon of new personal best which is a fantastic achievement.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Callum Parke who absolutely smashed it out of the park to take almost 3 minutes off his old best time and I think everyone was pleased to see him hit the sort of times his training has suggested for a while.

Well done everyone who raced and until next week……keep training!
