Team Blizard Race Report

Once again this week we have a vast array of distances, surfaces and types of races to cover but the common theme running through is the rich vein of excellent performances produced week in and week out by you all.
The last 7 days has been a busy time for you all with a variety of races.

Kicking off the week on Tuesday was the long standing Dam Flask relay held as part of the Percy Pud 10k over in Sheffield.
An unforgiving hill makes hard work going up  and then crazy paced running back down the other side let’s say “interesting”!
There were so many of you running that the report today would just be full of names so let’s say a big well done to you all!

Same day a different race in the Bugthorpe 10k which is part of the York road league series and saw coached athlete Shane Grace pulling on his 2nd claim vest running under Tadcaster Harriers and claiming a fine 3rd place overall as his comeback to full fitness continues.

Wednesday evening saw the running of the Sandal Beat 7k ( formally 10k ) around the trails of Sandal Park in Doncaster.
Rotherham Harrier and Blizard sponsored athlete showed the whole field a fresh pair of heels as he stormed to a gun to tape victory.
Lee was chased home by another training partner in Lee Varley whose 3rd place performance was backed up by his dad Dave who helped to make it a family affair!

Another local race in the Canal Relays saw lots of local athletes run in pairs and there was a storming run from another training partner to many of you as Worksop’s Tom Shaw helped his team to a fine overall position.

Sticking with the offroad theme saw two races to report from over the weekend as many of you took part in the Round Sheffield trail event and the slightly crazy Endure24!
A regular racer to this page Vivianne Fraser made light work of the ultra distance to record an impressive 80 miles as did Leeds athlete Lee Whitely who covered the same distance!

The final race of the week was the ever popular Saturday afternoon race in the Darrington 5 mile road race which is held as part of the village fate.
Recent lactate threshold client Emma Smith continued her improvements to take a lifetime new personal best and there was a sterling run from Portugal bound Matty Bell.
However, “Run of the week” this week goes to coached and Scarboro athlete in Rome Doisneau who not only bounced back from serious illness recently to be able to tow a startline but only went and won the overall race to show he clearly is on the up again!

A very impressive run from a special athlete and a massive well done until next week….keep training!
