Team Blizard Race Report
Once again we have had a bumper week of results over a variety of distances from the community.
Kicking off another week, we had the Northern, Midlands and Southern road relays which took place over the weekend, where so many of you were representing your local club. Well done to everybody who raced and helped their team qualify for the National championships in a couple of weeks time.
The ever popular trail event of Tissington Half Marathon, which many of you were using as final preparations towards a marathon in a couple of weeks. There was a fine controlled run from North Derbyshire’s athlete Matt Taylor as he puts the finishing touches to his training before the Chester Marathon, and a big shout out for long term coached athlete Brenda King who took the V75 first place with her half marathon effort.

A little further south saw a man in form Scott Burrell running the Winchester Half Marathon where he placed a very creditable 12th overall despite not enjoying the hill the race had to offer.
Nearer to home, we saw the ever popular Cleethorpes 10k and half marathon held in conjunction. In the 10k, coached athlete Andrew Kitchen put in a fine performance while Portugal attendee Mike Skelton from Cleethorpes AC took the V50 age group win.
As a community we were successful in the half marathon where Steve Geraghty and fellow coached athlete Sarah Sanderson both won their age groups in V40 and V50 respectively in very windy conditions.
Marathon season kicked off once again with very hot conditions in the Berlin Marathon, which has been the name of the game for marathons this year following the trend of both London and Manchester earlier in the year.
Chuckle brothers Adrian Ennis and Steve McAleavy both ran fine races as did another training partner of you all, Nathan Doy all sticking to the task in very tough conditions. North Derbyshire's Louise Palmer fared well in the hot weather and there was an excellent run from Leeds athlete Shane Grace who finished an excellent 16th place in the V45 age group.

As always, every week we have a “Run of the week” that we choose and this week's IT goes to coached athlete Chris Griffiths who ventured over to do the Morecambe Marathon in a final gasp attempt to get a GFA for next year's London marathon. Not only did Chris crush that target with a 2.51hrs marathon but also took the V45 age group win and not bad for a training run.

Once again, thank you to everybody who sent their results in. It really helps us and sorry if we have missed anybody off. It's almost impossible to keep up with all these good efforts going on every week.
Until next week……….keep training!
