Team Blizard Race Report

Once again we have an action packed week/weekend of races to report from up and down the country over a variety of distances!

First up was a great performance and the V65 win for coached athlete Paul Massey in the Cannock 5k and he is sharpening his speed before turning his attention to the Valencia marathon later in the year.

Staying with the same distance of 5k but moving over to the Podium 5k held in Barrowford near Burnley where the rematch of  Freddie Fearn and Rome Doisneau took place with Freddie just edging ahead with a fine run closely followed by the Scarboro athlete.
Next race to mention was the Ken Bingley 10k held near Pontefract where recent lactate threshold test athlete Laith Flanagan was using to test his fitness in this trail race.

Same distance different venue in the Escrick 10km saw Leeds athletes Nigel Fuller put in a good performance only to be outshone by recently married Eleanor Warren who took the ladies victory and just missed “ROTW”

Swapping surfaces to the track saw the last round of the Northern League where once again Matty Bell excelled over multiple events while our very own Jenny Blizard raced once again over 3k at Rotherham for her club. Regular to the Blizard Run Club platform Simon Oak was in fine form over 400m and finishing his day off with an excellent relay leg.

The final race to mention is the locally held, mid week Toffee 4 mile trail race where several of the team were racing and we saw a fine 3rd position from two coached athletes in both the Men’s and Women’s event from Seth Kirby and Becky Friar.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Doncaster athlete Wes Taylor who took the overall victory in this race.
Wes has battled back from injuries over the last couple of years and his run mid week was a well deserved award for sticking with things when it would have been easy to pack in.Well done Wes!
Another great week of performances and many thanks to all those who raced and long may this great vein continue.
Until next week………keep training!
