Race Report 21st November 2022

Nov 22, 2022

Sit down , grab a brew and we have a bumper race report for you this week!

We have several races to cover over a variety of distances and surfaces but the common theme going all the way through all the races is the excellent performances of the Team Blizard community athletes.

First up was Barnsley’s AC latest recruit and regular training partner Nathan Doy who bounced back to form post his marathon with a fine run in the Even Splits 5k on Friday night at York.

Changing surfaces to cross country we saw a great run in the Midland 7 mile race from Notts athlete Marti Whitehouse as she made easy work of the tough course in Bulwell, Nottingham.

Jumping over the “pond” to America saw Elle Warren run a fine race in the Philadelphia 8k as her fine vein of form continued as she ran in the elite race and finished a fine 21st position.

Moving into Sunday and up is distance to 10k to begin with we saw the ever popular Gainsboro 10k.

With so many of the team racing this weekend it is alway impossible to mention everyone but the eye catchers were Danny James from Cleethorpes, Matt Harvey and Jody Murray both smashing their pb’s while sterling runs from both Simon Holt and Kenny Hunter to name just a few.

The Clowne half marathon was another popular event you supported and great run’s on a tough course were done by loyal supporter of the clinic Michael Grain, Steve Maddocks while the ladies flew round with Nat Neville taking 2nd V45 and coached athlete Ruth Muir running a brand new personal best.

The final two races to cover come in the form of 10 miles with the Derby and Tadcaster versions on offer.

Valencia marathon runner’s Sam Gilliver and coached athlete Paul Massey both showed their preparations have gone very well as they both produced a new personal best as the perfect final touch to marathon preparations.

Tadcaster 10 mile road race provides a challenging course and fantastic runs were had by Shane Grace, Rome Doisneau, Vivianne Fraser and Chris Inman all producing either club records/personal bests.

“Run of the Week” goes to a member of the training group who has pulled his fitness back after some time out and it was great to see Jacob Clark return to racing and smash a brand new personal best and we look forward to seeing him more in action in the coming months and weeks.

Another big weekend ahead with the Doncaster 10k so more of the same above, until next week….keep training!
