Team Blizard Race Report

Well, we have another action packed race report covering all different distances and surfaces but all with the common thread of success from the athletes from the Team Blizard community at heart!

Tuesday was a busy evening for the team with so many of you racing the ever popular Rother Valley relays over the 5k course ( run the opposite way to the Park Run to confuse you all! ).
There really were too many of the team running to mention everyone so how  about a collective WELL DONE to everyone who raced!

Staying with a speed based theme but this time on the track saw rising star Alice Fearn make the long trip from Caistor to Manchester pay off as she ran another great race to secure the time she requires over 3000m on the track for later championship races later in the summer.
Friday night saw the first of the summer series of the ever popular No Walk In The Park 5k in Chesterfield take place with our very own coached athlete and new dad Sam Gilliver take the victory despite a few sleepless nights with a newborn!

Changing from pure running to duathlon saw a sterling performance from Llyr ApGeraint-Roberts“Robbo” as he took the age group and overall win in the Southport Sprint duathlon even if it meant he missed the training group’s track session!

There were a couple of 10k road races to report from over the weekend both being held in very hot conditions so please make sure you all fully recover before training hard again.
The first one was the excellent Curly’s Athletes Big Green 10k over in Scunthorpe put on by Jono and his team.
The Davies family had a day out with Lee/Mary and young wolf Lucas Davies all putting in great performances while Wolds Vet Tracey Gibson showed she is fully recovered from her recent marathon as she took the V60 win using the 10k as part of her long run….show off!

The challenging Pontefract 10k hosted a race for many of the team and there was a superb 3rd place overall from Brad Walker.

and eye catching runs from Shaun Yates, Matty Bell and Kev Geer including a welcome return to racing for Susie Hinchcliffe.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to a popular member of the team in Seth Kirby.
Just over 12 months ago just after his first sub 3.00hrs marathon Seth said he wanted to explore his speed a little more!
A full 12 months of track work and changing his training around totally with a trip to Portugal thrown in there as well resulted with Seth running a fantastic 16.09mins for 5k on Saturday in York for his club smashing his former personal best time.
When Seth first came to the clinic back in 2019 he held a very modest 5k pb of 20.47 from that year so to take his time down to the level we saw on Saturday is fantastic and a big well done to him for all his hard work.
On to the next goal of sub 16.00 mins now Seth!

Massive well done to everyone who raced and took the time to send in your results and until next week…..keep training!
