Team Blizard Race Report
Once again we bring you a round up of the performances of the Team Blizard community and what a race report we have for you this week!
Starting off the week, over in Madeira, we had the European Masters Track and Field and Road Running Championships, where Kev Walker from Totley ran in both the 5 and 10k races, along with Mansfield athlete Steve Davies, both giving great performances in these championships.

Over on the East Coast, it was the ever popular Scarborough East Coast 10k, where Ackworth duo Rich Ward and Maks Palciks both ran in the 10k, with Max prevailing just by a few seconds to beat his training partner and record a new personal best time.

Staying with the 10k theme, the rearranged Trafford 10k took place over in Manchester, and there were excellent PBs from Danny James, a great run from Mike Skelton, and a shiny new personal best from the man in form currently and coached athlete Dean Thomas.
A big weekend over in the Yorkshire Marathon and 10 mile championships, where coach Tune and Jenny had a busy morning riding around on the bikes shouting you all, with so many of you running it will be impossible to name everybody, but in the 10 mile race there were sterling runs from training partners and coached athletes Chris Griffiths, Nick Williams, John Podgornyi, Andy Hopper, Richard Burke, Simon Kendall, Angela Lally, Kev Simpson, Gill Coulson, Al Reid, and a brand new personal best for North Derbyshire’s Ann Barker in the V60 category

Tough weather conditions met the marathon runners, yet still they battled through with some fantastic performances, where we had PBs from James Biggin of Sheffield, Mark Bly taking his first ever sub 3 hour marathon in windy conditions, PBs for Julie Adams, Lucy Binch, a double for Louise Palmer after her recent Berlin marathon, while Eleanor Storey, a regular on the marathon training sessions and Malc Stapleton all ran well/PBs alongside Portugal attendee Jo Burke and James Holloway, captain of Danum Harriers running a fine race.

Each week we give a “Run of the Week” award and although he isn't a Blizard coached athlete, this week's award goes to Ed Buck of Newark who ran an excellent 2 hours 18 minutes to win the Yorkshire marathon.
Ed's connection with Team Blizard comes through his coach Bill Taylor who uses us for testing with all his athletes and Ed's fine run at the weekend was a great example of how regular testing can help somebody's progression. Having first come to the clinic many years ago as a young 20 year old athlete wanting to run a fast time at Park run it has been a pleasure watching Ed develop under Bill’s watchful eye into the athlete he is becoming now.

Well done to everybody who raced and sorry if we have missed anybody, it really was a fantastic week of performances. Until next week…….. keep training!
