Team Blizard Race Report

Once again we have had a fantastic week of results over a variety of surfaces and distances.

Kicking off the week we saw the Lincoln 5k series take place where coached athlete Keri Pearson showed a good turn of speed in her preparation for the Great North Run and then ultimately the Yorkshire marathon and this was backed up by long-term supporter of the clinic Chris Inman who ran very well.

Changing surfaces to trail, Thursday saw the last ever Spencer's Arms Dash take place over near Barnsley where several of you were running in this long established event that was being run for the final time.Best of the crop was coached athlete Shaun Yates who came in second place overall, while Richard Ward and Richard Burke, both of Ackworth AC, ran lifetime personal bests on the course.

Sticking with shorter distances, Friday night saw the ever-popular Mid-Cheshire 5k take place on the super fast course where many of the Team Blizard athletes were running. Father and son duo Lee and “young wolf” Lucas Davis both ran PBs, where keeping it in the family tradition, both Alice and mum Tracey Fearn gave great accounts of themselves with Tracey coming second V55 overall. We also saw a lifetime PB from another coached athlete in Becky Friar who is shaping into great form recently.

Moving back onto the trail, we saw the next round of the KMRC Series in the Wickersley Chase trail race where Rotherham Harrier athlete Angela Lally took the first V45 prize which was a box of chocolates which I'm sure tasted very good after such a great run!

Further afield in the Stockholm half marathon, coached athlete Sarah Sanderson had a great run in a quality time and is getting into shape ready for her marathon in a few weeks time.

Each week a “Run of the Week” is named from an athlete who we feel deserves that accolade.
Former work experience athlete here at Blizard Towers Cam Reilly gained his first ever England vest in the home nation's 5k in Cardiff and ran a very creditable 10th overall.
This was a big moment for any athlete and one that was fully deserved and we are sure the whole community wish him all the very best.

Massive well done to everybody who has raced and thank you to all those who sent in your results as it really helps us each week pulling them all together.

Let’s keep this good momentum going and until next week……… keep training!
