Blizard Race Report

Massive well done to everyone who raced this last week and many thanks to all those who took time to send in their results as it really does help us to pull them all together.

We kick off the action with the Battersea Park 5k on Friday night where former work experience chap and now fully working adult Cam Reilly ran a splendid race to place high in a good quality field.
Staying in the capital Saturday saw the latest of the London events in the Serpentine  Great swim where Carl Harrington and Caistor duo of Frank and Tina Thomas enjoyed a dip in the water!

Moving onto firmer ground and the next race to report from was the ever popular Wetherby 10k where a well supported group of St Theresa athletes ran. Pick of the crop in 4th place overall lady was Elle Warren who showed she is on course for her marathon in a few months time in Valencia while she was chased hard by training partners Nigel Fuller and Ian Maudsley.

Moving to the seaside and the Tape2Tape event over in Cleethorpes where both the 10k and half marathon took place.
We were well supported in both races and special mentions to coached athlete Rome Doisneau who took 1st V40 and 4th overall and Scunthorpe athlete Olivia Burton who made an excellent return to racing with 2nd placed lady overall in the race.

The half marathon was the biggest race of the weekend with many athletes chasing England Master’s qualification as well as a fast time.
Shane Grace, Mark Chapman and Ruth Muir both from the Leeds club put in excellent performances while Cleethorpes duo of Callum Rly and Mike Skelton both enjoyed excellent runs to finish very highly.
Our very own Jenny Blizard took the V45 win and 3rd lady overall after some excellent pace making from husband and coach Tune!

There were eye catching runs from Sue Atkinson/Andrew Kitchen and Portugal bound Tracey Gibson while local boy Brett Mussell ran a new personal best.
However, “Run of the Week” goes to our very own Lee Milburn who not only took the overall win but in the process setting a new personal best in tricky conditions to show he is well on track for his marathon in a few week’s time.

Well done everyone and until next week…….keep training!
