Race Report 18th April 2022

race report Apr 20, 2022

The Easter race report is now ready!

A massive well done to all those who raced over the easter break and as always apologizes if we miss any results off as there are so many to cover.

We kick off the report from two races that took place on Good Friday. Firstly, the Salford 10k road race proved a great hunting ground for Rotherham Harriers athlete Chris Griffiths who produced his second fastest ever 10k performance.

The next race to mention was the Hull based Brantingham 7 Hills event. This off-road event delivers what it says on the tin with 7 climbs incorporated within the route with the steepest an amazing 28% gradient!

Our very own Coach Tune came 4th overall and was quickly backed up by training partner Chris Ward in 7th position with Keri Pearson taking the women's overall race win and our very own Jenny coming in 3rd lady.

Saturday saw the running of the super fast Mallory Park 5k where Tracey Fearne fresh from Portugal opened up her summer racing with the V50 win in a quick time.

The Boston marathon and half marathon features heavily in the new round of races to take the results from.

The USA version saw fine runs from Doncaster’s Jimmy Osbourne, while coached athlete Simon Kendall added another of the Major marathon medals to his ever growing collection of bling.

Slightly nearer to home but somewhat flatter saw the UK version of the race take place in Lincolnshire.

In the half marathon there were several great performances including an eye-catching training run from Sam Gilliver who was using it as part of his long run as was our very own Tom Halloway.

Even more impressive over the full distance were two athletes to mention the first being Clowne Road Runner Giles Searlby who took a whopping 13 minutes off his best previous time only to be outdone by Sheffield athlete Mark Lawton who topped him by taking 28 minutes off his best ever time!

Some fantastic performances but “Run of the week” for the second week on the bounce goes to Scott Burrell who made his debut on the track in the Battersea Comeback 5000m.

The event was streamed live on youtube and Scotty B only won his race in a new personal best to take his 2nd podium position in as many weeks!

The results just keep getting better and better and long may it continue. Well done everyone and as always sorry if we missed anybody.

Until next week………keep training!
