Team Blizard Race Report
The last 7 days have been nothing short of amazing from the athletes of the Team Blizard community as we have had a sensational week of results and are going to ATTEMPT to give you a flavour of just what everyone has been up to.
Firstly, a massive thanks to everyone who took time out to send in their results as it really helps us pull things together and as ever we start off by apologising if we miss anyone and say a massive well done to everyone who has raced.
Friday night kicked things off with the ever popular York 5k series on the cycle track which saw 3 coached athletes competing. First home out of the trio was Leeds based Aaron Lowery who is in a fine vein of form running his fastest 5k since 2012 and closely chased home and setting a new personal best by Will Sykes. Super vet Tracey Fearn took the V55 1st position in a fast time just outside of 20mins.
Jumping up distances to the marathon saw birthday boy Adam Wisdom celebrate his 40th by running a marathon which is a bit of a change for him but stopping the clock in an impressive 3.46hrs in Barcelona.
The ever popular Thirsk 10 mile road race saw Portugal bound Rob Milner run a great race ahead of a week in the sunshine!
A little nearer home saw the first running of the Wickersley 10k on a challenging course and regular training partner to many of you Chris Griffiths had a fine race in 4th place overall while David Butler and Brenda J King both ran very well in this new event.
There was another challenging 10k race in the form of the Wakefield event that has been running many years but is still as tough!
Fast times were never on the card but there were sterling runs from Joe Restell,Richard Burke , Richard Ward and Maksims Palciks to name a few of the eye catching results.
It was “eye down for a full house” with so many of you running in the local Retford half marathon with many of the team using it as a stepping stone in marathons later in the spring.
It was pb after pb for many of you on the far from easy course and at last count we got it as over 50 runners from our community actually took part which is crazy to list everyone but a selection of the personal bests came from:
Lee Milburn pb and 3rd overall
Keri Pearson 2nd overall
Coach Tune 2ndV50
Natalie Neville 1stV50 pb
Mark Plant pb
Brad Walker pb
Kev Simpson 7mins pb
Adrian Ennis pb to name just a small selection of some outstanding runs and the list could go on and on forever!

The final race to mention is the Podium 5k that was held on the cycle track at Leicester.
The way this event has grown over the years is a testament to the race organizer Chris Barnes and is the future of road racing!
We had 6 athletes competing with firstly Scott Burrell making the long trip back from the Maldives on Wednesday to race in his heat where he ran a solid race.
In the same heat and also Portugal bound was another coached athlete in Seth Kirby who smashed his personal best over the 5k distance.
Brother and sister Freddie Fearn and Alice Fearn were not to be out done by mum on Friday night and both athletes recorded new personal best times.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw who blew his 5k personal best out of the window stopping the clock in a very impressive 15.28mins and is a just reward for the hard work he puts in and all within marathon training mode.

As always we are sorry we cannot mention everyone but a massive well done to everyone who raced and until next week….keep training!
