Team Blizard Race Report
We kick off another week of sensational results from the boys and girls of Team Blizard community!
We started the week over in York on the cycle track where the monthly Even Splits 5k took place and saw Leeds coached athlete Will Sykes record a new lifetime personal best over the distance which is a great sign considering we are looking to work towards a marathon later in the year!
Moving up slightly in distance to 5 miles saw many of you racing the tough Wombwell 5mile road race over in Barnsley.
Portugal bound athlete Seth Kirby was the first of our team over the line and there were some performances from Chris Griffiths and an eye catching effort from Michael Whole Grain the day after completing his 20 mile training long run to name a few!

It is this time of the year when half marathon begin to “pop up” and we have two to report from firstly, the Wrexham Village Bakery race in Wales where coached athlete Keri Pearson gave a good account of herself while deep in marathon training.

A warm event in the Barcelona half marathon not only saw the World Record get smashed but our very own Richard Burke had a fast turn of feet early on before registering an excellent time for him and just missed his pb by a few seconds.

Once again it was the local cross country league and this round was held on the very muddy course over in Killamarsh where once again Worksop Harrier Tom Shaw made light work of the difficult conditions to take the overall win and then run home for good measure!

The final race to report from was actually the first race of the week but we have kept the best until last!
Over in Ireland the “family Fearn’s” went on mass to the famous Armagh 3/5k road race.
Held round a small town square, this race has a reputation for being fast and furious.
Freddie Fearn ran in the Men’s elite race just missing his personal best time while “mummy bear” Tracey Fearn ran in the Ladies 3k and took the V55 course record that had stood since 2016!

However, this week’s “Run of the week” goes to Alice Fearn with her excellent effort in the ladies 3k where she smashed her lifetime personal best to record 9.47mins and is a just reward for the hard work she has put in over the winter.
Massive well done to everyone who raced and thank you those who have sent their results in as it really helps.
Until next week……keep training!
