Race Report 16th January 2023

Jan 16, 2023

This week sees the return of the “Race Report” as the new year’s road racing takes off!

The first race to report from was the ever impossible one to gain an entry with the Brass Monkey half marathon.

Held over in York on a super fast course the race always produces some great performances and times and this year was no different.

There was so many of you guys racing to mention everyone but a few of the standout performances that caught our eye came from:

Rome Doisneau who ran a new personal best bouncing back from a cold that so many people have been suffering with.

Stuart Carrack who was using the race as a solid training session and ran a pb!

Regular training partner Andrew Teasdale who ran a personal best

St Thearas athletes Mark Chapman, Elle Warren, Nigel Fuller , Ian Maudsley and Ruth Muir all either pbing or having great runs.

Another club who support the clinic in North Derbyshire also had a great day in the office flying the flag from Shaun Johnson, Andy Todd and Sam Illiffe.

Like we said there are just too many of you all to mention but well done to all those who raced and put down a great marker this early on in the year.

Our next race to mention has an international feel to it in the super fast Valencia 10k where Retford AC athlete Sam Roberts might have been a touch disappointed with his time but gives him a great start point to build from.

However, “Run of the Week” this week goes to coached athletes Scotty Burrell who despite getting caught up in the carnage at the start still managed to smash his previous 10k personal best stopping the clock just 1 second away from nipping under 34 mins!

Well done everyone and thank you to all of you who sent your results in as it really helps.

Until next week…….keep training!
