Team Blizard Race Report
We have one of our biggest and best race reports for a very long time for you this week but we make no apologies on how long it is going to take you to read about all of the great runs from the Blizard Community!
We are going to start with the marathon and then work down in distance for a change and Sunday saw the Chicago marathon take place which was an amazing world record and we saw the first women in history break 2.10hrs which is unbelievable and Dave and Jen were glued to a tv in the airport in Portugal watching the race while waiting for their flight!

Massive well done to both Tom Shaw and Matt Hamer both completing the course and regular training partners to many of you and good luck with your recovery and getting down stairs today!
It is a popular time in road racing as well as the full marathon distance but also for half marathons and we had three races to report from.
Firstly we saw a great run from Susie Hinchcliffe in the Hedgehog half marathon put on by Curly’s athletes.

The Great Eastern half marathon over in Peterborough doubled as a England Master’s qualifying race and the in form Tracey Gibson once again showed a great performance but this time on the road while “evergreen” Eric Winstone had a welcome return to racing and another athlete on the comeback after injuries was Shane Grace how made that all important first race back step to finish well.
The Manchester half marathon is proving to be a good fast autumn race for many to aim towards and we had a good number of athletes running with notable runs and new personal bests coming from, Danny James, Shaun Johnson, Al Reid while a mention also needs to go to coached athletes Paul Massey and Dawn Bradley as both although just missing pb’s both ran really well.
It was another coached athlete who just missed out on this week’s “Run of the Week” with her new personal best at Manchester just a few short weeks since she ran her marathon pb over in Berlin in Sarah Sanderson!

Further north in Glasgow saw another coached athlete in Freddie Fearn run well over the rarely run distance of 5 miles.

The Leeds Abbey Dash 10k over the years has always produced fast times and this Sunday was no exception.
Eye catching performances and new personal bests came from Rebecca Friar, Richard Burke, Dean Thomas, Nathan Doy, Peter Twigg, Shaun Carley and Aaron Lowery.
As always if we have missed anyone and it really is impossible to capture you all as there are so many of you we are sorry!
The final races to mention in this report are cross country races which have started at this time of year.
The Midland league saw a welcome return to Portugal attendee Marti Whitehouse who put in a good performance over the country.
A bounce back into racing and victory took place for coached athlete Keri Pearson over in the East Yorkshire league match.

While the same equivalent event took place at Norfolk Park, Sheffield where a welcome return to cross country racing was made by Nicola Devine and Natalie Neville. But this weeks “Run of the Week” goes to Rotherham Harrier Alice Fearn who took the senior women's win in her first cross country race of the year.

Another bumper week of racing and a massive well done to all those who raced and until next week......keep training!
