Race Report 15th August 2022

Aug 15, 2022

This week’s race report has a great level of variety as always from the athletes racing from Team Blizard.

First name to mention is Rotherham Harrier Simon Oak who is a regular on our live Blizard Run Club class who raced over 800m on the track at Loughborough mid week placing highly and showing several younger athletes that age is no barrier! Keep up the great work Simon.

Our very own Robbo was in action in the Tyne duathlon coming an excellent 2nd place in his age group and over 4 minutes quicker than the last time he did this race!

A record number of turnouts were seen on our latest “Blizard Marathon session” which meant there were a few less people racing but what a great morning of training it was from each and everyone of you who turned up.

The Newark half marathon provided a good longer distance race for several athletes working towards an Autumn marathon while a little nearer home saw the running of the new look Askern 10k road race.

Several of the training group were race/using it as part of a longer effort in very hot conditions.

There was an eye catching run from Rotherhams Harrier Nicola Devine who came 3rd lady overall and then proceeded to do another 10 miles cooling down!

While birthday girl Susie Hinchcliffe helped celebrate her birthday in the finest fashion by racing a 10k!

However “Run of the week” goes to one of Dave’s longest coached athletes and inspiration to us all Brenda King.

Brenda is on the live class every single Friday night doing all the class, throwing her kettlebell around as well as driving her husband mad doing the HIIT.

On her way back after a little injury Brenda needs a special mention as she took the V70 win and a confidence boost with her run yesterday.

Well done to everyone and long may the great results keep coming!

Until next week…….keep training
