Race Report 13th June 2022

Jun 13, 2022

This week’s Race Report moves at a fever paced speed as we move from event to event over the last 7 days. With the Summer evenings ahead of us more mid week races take place. We kicked the week off with the Kimmy Kanter which is an offroad event where coached athlete Seth Kirby continued his fine vein of form to come home 4th overall.

Wednesday saw the return of the ever popular Sandal Beat 10k held from Doncaster Rugby club and using the paths in the woods. Our very own sponsored athlete Lee Milburn showed the whole field the back of his vest as he took the overall victory while being chased down by training partner Lee Varley in 2nd place.

Saturday as well as everyone racing Park runs or training saw Robbo secure his first championship place in the Slateman duathlon with a fine performance. A little nearer home saw several athletes compete in the Doncaster half marathon staged by Curly’s athletes. An excellent event as always put on by Jono and his team and once again that man Lee Varley had an excellent run along with Shaun Carley and Andrew Kitchen to mention 3 eye-catching performances.

Changing the surface once again from trail to road to track, ever present training group member Rob Shoreson competed in the British Master’s track and field championships in Derby and placed an impressive 4th in the V40 steeplechase running an excellent time.

Prolific racer Vivianne Fraser once again when medal hunting and this time raced the Dalby Forest 50k turning in another great performance.

The last race to mention is the Hull 10k where several of the training team were competing. Despite being sent the wrong way on the last turn “robbing him” of a massive personal best there was a fine run from coached athlete Rome Doisneau from Scaraboro’.

But “Run of the week” goes to Askern athlete Jody Murray who has been working really hard on his strength and conditioning over the last few months after successfully breaking a cycle of getting fit then breaking down again. This time round Jody has been really patient and this was rewarded with a massive new personal best time over what is a very twisty course. Massive well done to everyone who raced and as always thank you for sending in your results we really do appreciate the help trying to pull them all together. Until next week…….keep racing!
