Team Blizard Race Report
Well, it has been another action packed week/weekend of racing with some fantastic performances from you all.
Kicking off the week and making a welcome return to racing is someone we hold in great respect here at Blizard Towers in North Derbyshire athlete Andy Ward who ran in the No Walk in The Park 5k over in Chesterfield.
For those who don’t know , Andy was instrumental in putting Blizard on the running map with his performances via lactate heart rate training when we first opened and it is great to see him back racing once again and watch this space!

It was a weekend of half marathon and 10km racing with lots of athletes using events as part of their marathon preparation.
The Vale of York 10k and half marathon provided a fast course for many of you and there were plenty of eye catching performances with just too many to mention everyone but a selection of the more eye catching ones came from: Aaron Lowery, Jody Murray making a welcome return to racing on the road and Emma Winter.
There were some massive new personal bests from recent tests and Leeds athlete Sarah Jane Turnbull as she prepared for the Yorkshire marathon while Ackworth’s Rob Milner deserved a shining new personal best for the hard work he puts in.
Coached athlete Sarah Sanderson took an impressive 5 full minutes off her best previous time to show she is coming into form perfectly ahead of the Berlin marathon in a few short weeks.
A little further north saw the annual Great North Run and the damp weather could not stop some great performances.
Regular training partner Simon Scully made a successful transition down from ultra running to a much shorter half marathon and was rewarded with a great run and few beers after to celebrate and well deserved they were!
More coached athletes in Dawn Keeligan (Pink Bird), Keri Pearson, Paul Massey and Andrew Kitchen all gave great performances while long term supporter of the clinic and Clowne athlete Giles Searby took an amazing 9 minutes off his best previous time in the Toon!

We also need to mention Scarboro’s Andrew Hopper who once again used his favourite race to run in his home town and there was a fantastic performace from Tamara Hazlehurst who targeted this race several months ago and smashed her target time.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Kev Simpson who broke his half marathon previous best as we used this race as part of his build up to the Yorkshire marathon.
Kev has only quite recently started coming down into the training group over the last few months and it is already paying off the group environment and long may it continue.

Many thanks to all those who sent in their race results and a massive well to to everyone who races and until next week….keep training!
