Team Blizard Race Report

Once again the weather was against the runners as the rearranged Percy Pud 10k fell foul to the weather despite the huge efforts from host club Steel City Striders to put the event on.
Many of you ran the race as a virtual event to show your support and let’s make sure moving forward we all support the race for 2024 as it is just one of those things!

There was still plenty of action to be had and firstly let us mention a couple of 10k races that were on  and survived the weather.
The super fast Telford 10k took place in the Shropshire town and once again delivered some incredible time with Bill Taylor’s team running really well as did our former work experience boy Cameron Reilly!

A little nearer home the Bolsover 10k race took place on the undulating course in Derbyshire and first home from our community was Wes Taylor who came a fine 7th place overall.
His performance was backed up by so many of you to mention everyone but well done to you all who raced.

The Northern Master’s 5k road championships took place in Leeds on Sunday and Portugal bound athlete Tracey Gibson continued with her fine form to run another impressive race.

Moving away from the road and onto the mud of cross country we saw firstly the West Yorkshire cross country league take place in a mud bath over in Rothwell and coached athlete Susie Hinchcliffe made light work of the tough conditions to run another fine race.

Graves Park at Sheffield was the venue of the South Yorkshire cross country championships and once again there were so many of you racing it really is impossible to mention you all so let’s say a big well done to everyone!

The final race to report from is from the sunnier climates of Barbados where coached athlete Scott Burrell not only competed in both the 1 mile race but also the half marathon where he finished an impressive 4th place overall and this has earnt him this week’s “Run of the Week”!

Once again some incredible efforts by you all and 2023 really has been our best year to date for results and long may it continue into next year!
Until next week…..keep training!
