Race Report 11th April 2022

race report Apr 20, 2022

Team Blizard Race report is here!

There is no letting up with the results after last week's marathon magic as we have results from all sorts of different races for you all to celebrate.

We kick off the report mentioning a mid week race as it was the next round of the South Yorkshire road league held at the hilly venue of Worsboro’.

Another fine run was had by both Lee Varley and Manvers athlete Dan Smith to name just two of the many that ran on the tough undulating loop.

Next up in the action on Saturday was the National road relay championships held at the famous Sutton Park in Birmingham.

Teams of athletes competed against clubs from all around the country for a National title.

Rotherham ladies were well represented from the training group with Sarah Lowery and Rebecca Friar both running really well to take the club to an excellent 10th position overall.

The Men’s race is held over 12 stages and once again we saw eye-catching efforts from Tom Halloway, Chris Griffiths and Jon Stewart for their respective clubs.

The next race to report on has an overseas feel to it as Doncaster’s Posh and Becks Nicola Devine and Nathan Doy competed in the Rotterdam marathon.

Nicola had a great debut to run an incredible 2.50hrs taking the honor of “fastest in the house” currently!

The last race to report from and one that takes the title of “Run of the week” goes to coached athlete Scott Burrell.

Many of you met Scott out in Portugal where he shared his ambition to make a podium position in a race.

This weekend not only did Scott run a new personal best but managed to take 2nd place overall in the Bungay 10k!

No mean feat for this type one diabetes athlete that just continues to improve each month.

Well done to everyone and and until next week’s report…..keep training!
