V45 winner at Dewsbury and 3rd fastest female V45 in the country

This week saw a massive turn out in the number of athletes of Team Blizard in one race so please forgive us if we do not mention everyone as there was so many of you in the Dewsbury 10k!

But, before we do our Dewsbury 10k roundup we need to firstly mention a great performance that took place in the indoor setting of the EIS at Sheffield where Leeds AC athlete Jon Stewart’s fine vein of form continues as he took the victory in the open 1500m race as he rounds nicely into form ahead of the European Masters indoor championships in a couple of weeks.

Onto Dewsbury 10k and terrible weather conditions greeted the runners for this popular event.

First of the “Blizard” runners home was coached athlete Shane Grace who despite the weather managed to set a new personal best.

Training partners Nathan Doy, Lee Varley were next in both having great runs while recent lactate test runners Stuart Carrick, Rome Doisneau and Andrew Pearson all having fine runs.

Another couple of coached athletes in Chris Griffiths ran very well with Chris showing he is fully over his recent niggle and yet another new pb from Andrew Kitchen who has started 2022 where he left 2021 with another best performance.

There really is far too many individuals to mention everyone but the list for the boys just keeps going on and on!

Not to be outdone by the boys the girls also showed that the weather was not going to stop them as Eleanor Warren ran a new personal best and this was backed up with fine runs from Lyndsey Eastman, Tracey Fearne and Emma Connelly.

However, “Run of the week” goes to our very own Jenny Blizard as she ran the exact same time she did on the same course 6 years ago as she gave herself an early birthday present and took herself into the top 3 fastest times for a V45 Lady in the UK to take 5th place overall.
