Team Blizard Race Report

It might be a day late but that does not dampen the action we have seen from the race results the guys from Team Blizard have done in the last week!

The ever popular South Yorkshire road league races began last week and the first event took place at Elsecar near Barnsley over a tough course.
There were so many of the team running to mention everyone of you but well done to all those who raced and you move to the next event on Wednesday week.

Saturday saw  the National Road relay championships in Birmingham where many of you ran as you represented your respective club in the 6 and 12 stage road relays and once again well done to all those who continued to support this excellent long standing event.

Moving a lot further south onto the coast saw the first of the marathons take place this spring with the Brighton marathon.
Coached athlete Stuart Gough not only battled the full marathon distance and also gale force winds to set a new personal best to beat his time from the Manchester marathon last year.
All this is a great achievement but magnified by the FACTS Stuart does ALL his training apart from at a weekend at 5am due to work commitments and this is something I think we can all respect.

The Sheffield half marathon passed an early pitch inspection due to the high winds and several of the team excelled on the very undulating course.
None more so that Scott Lindley who took 7 minutes of his best time, Jimmy Hanrahan who smashed his best time as he prepares for the London marathon and our very own training partner and coached athlete of many years Sarah Lowery who took 3rd place lady overall to name just a few of the eye catching performances.

However, this week’s “Run of the Week” goes to Freddie Fearn who in the recent Isle of Man 10k Easter race took almost 2 minutes off his personal best and backed up his excellent recent form he has shown and his dedication to his training.

As always thank you everyone who sent in their results and a big weekend of racing ahead with the Lincoln 10k and Manchester marathon where we have so many athletes running.
Until next week……keep training!
